The bastide town of Eymet is only 5 minutes drive away with its medieval Chateau and traditional market square, where a large market is held every Thursday and also a lively evening market in the summer months, which attracts people from miles around. Here there are restaurants and bars to suit all tastes & pockets and there is also canoeing, tennis, swimming and lots more- right on your doorstep!

During the summer months there are several Jazz & Music Festivals to enjoy, something that is very much part of the French culture. The thriving city of Bergerac is only 20 kms north of Le Prince Noir – built on the banks of the river Dordogne , this lovely city is steeped in history, much of it springing from the endless vineyards that cloak the surrounding hills as far as the eye can see.
Bergerac also has a heritage of tobacco production, barrel-making and also the industry surrounding the gabares –the flat-bottomed boat that was used to float the wine barrels downriver to Bordeaux – all explained in the numerous museums there for you to visit. There’s a huge choice of restaurants here, tempting you to sample the culinary delights of the region, and the colourful markets held in the streets of Bergerac several days a week are testimony to the wealth of local produce on offer.
