CYCLE ON TRAFFIC-FREE ROADS
When you are staying with us at Le Prince Noir, within a few minutes you can discover a whole network of traffic-free country lanes which are perfect for cyclists of all abilities.
Whether you are a cycling family, a touring cyclist or a committed racing cyclist looking for good training rides, you’ll find something to suit you! We are surrounded by undulating, rolling countryside, with a huge variety of terrain, it is perfect cycling country.
ROUTE CARDS + MAPS PROVIDED
Included in your holiday price we can offer you a range of routes, from 12kms to 80/90kms suitable for all abilities. Each route card has detailed directions, with a map attached. If you want to stop for a coffee or restaurant break, these locations are all marked. There are great training routes with challenging climbs for the keen racing cyclist, and also relaxing shorter rides, for family cycling or touring the area. All our routes are on very quiet country lanes –You can often ride for 2 hours and see about 3 cars! (see Cyclist’s Testimonials below)
TOP QUALITY BIKES FOR HIRE
We have a large selection of good quality, well-maintained, lightweight bikes available for hire, a wide range of sizes, including some small bikes for children. The bikes are fully equipped with puncture repair outfit, pump, water bottle and optional (recommended) safety helmet.
Trek Navigator all-terrain bikes:
Light weight aluminium bikes suitable for road or off-road riding, with a wide range of gears. These bikes can be fitted with pannier racks, for those who want to do some touring.
Bikes for children:
We have several good quality children’s bikes available for hire, for ages 7-11 . Childrens’ helmets are included in your hire price.
Tag-along Bike for children between 4 to 8 years.
Child seat available free of charge for children up to 25kg.
SECURE BIKE STORAGE
If you decide to bring your own bike with you to stay at Le Prince Noir, we can offer you secure storage for your bike in our large Bike Barn. This is also our bike workshop, where there is a range of tools and equipment which you can borrow if you need to work on your bike. It is also a centre for our guests to gather to share experiences and have many bike-centred conversations.
BERGERAC AIRPORT/ RAILWAY STATION TRANSFERS
We can provide pick up and drop off at Bergerac Airport with your bikes. Or we can pick you up at Bergerac Railway station. Your accommodation with French Oasis Holidays is only 20 minutes drive from Bergerac. Reserve transfers when you book your holiday.

For the enthusiastic regular cyclist, or for racing cyclists developing their training programme, when staying at Le Prince Noir we can provide a base for your cycle tour, or the ideal place to make significant progress with your training.
The quiet country lanes through the undulating Bergerac vineyards offer a huge range of routes which can be as steady or as challenging as you like. You can “get the miles in your legs”, and those with families can enjoy their cycling knowing that their family will be content relaxing around the pool or taking advantage of the many leisure activities nearby.

Read a letter from some cyclists who stayed with us, for the 2nd year running, in September 2010. They were staying in the Studio Apartment for 2 weeks and were riding their tandem - here is the article to be published in the Tandem Club magazine:
Last year we wrote a short article describing our holiday at French Oasis Holidays in the Dordogne near Bergerac (www.frenchoasisholidays.com). In the article we mentioned that we had booked again for September 2010. We have now returned after another fantastic two weeks. This year we used the excellent cycle routes provided by Jane and Gordon Barnes the owners as the basis of our rides but extended them so that we visited a whole range of villages, chateaux, vineyards (!) and of course the great French village markets (especially Issigeac and Ste Foy la Grande). There are so many places to visit within easy cycling reach. The maximum trip we did was a 60 mile round trip to Chateaux Biron and the pretty village of Monpazier.
We varied our daily rides to include rolling hills, some good climbing but also relatively flat terrain.
The accommodation we used was the one bedroom studio which was well presented, warm and comfortable with all of the facilities we needed including satellite TV so that we could watch the tour of Britain!
Having a swim in the good sized pool after a ride and a read whilst relaxing in the sun was a great way to recover after a ride.
The whole area around Bergerac and the Dordogne is beautiful and we enjoyed ourselves so much we have booked again for 2011. Going back to the same place for three years in succession is unknown for us but the draw is the area, the fabulous cycling variety, the places to explore and of course the quality of the accommodation and the enthusiasm and friendliness of the owners.
