When you are staying with us at Le Prince Noir, within a few minutes you can discover a whole network of traffic-free country lanes which are perfect for cyclists of all abilities.

Whether you are a cycling family, a touring cyclist or a committed racing cyclist looking for good training rides, you’ll find something to suit you! As keen cyclists ourselves, we love the fact that we are surrounded by undulating, rolling countryside, with a huge variety of terrain, it is perfect cycling country, and it was one of the many reasons that we chose Le Prince Noir as our home

ROUTE CARDS + MAPS PROVIDED

Included in your holiday price we can offer you a range of routes, from 12kms to 80/90kms suitable for all abilities. Each route card has detailed directions, with a map attached. If you want to stop for a coffee or restaurant break, these locations are all marked. There are great training routes with challenging climbs for the keen racing cyclist, and also relaxing shorter rides, for family cycling or touring the area. All our routes are on very quiet country lanes – we often ride for 2 hours and see about 3 cars! (see Cyclist’s Testimonials below)

TOP QUALITY BIKES FOR HIRE

We have a large selection of good quality, well-maintained, lightweight bikes available for hire, a wide range of sizes, including some small bikes for children. The bikes are fully equipped with puncture repair outfit, pump, water bottle and optional (recommended) safety helmet. We also have a top of the range Cannondale Tandem available for hire to experienced cyclists.

Trek Navigator all-terrain bikes:
Light weight aluminium bikes suitable for road or off-road riding, with a wide range of gears. These bikes can be fitted with pannier racks, for those who want to do some touring.

Road Bikes for hire – new in 2009:
We  have three new Giant SCR3 Road Bikes for hire, sizes Small, Medium and Large. These are fully-equipped with aluminium frames and carbon forks. Great for the keen cyclist who is unwilling to put his/her best bike on the plane, or if there is not room in the car with all the family!

Cannondale Tandem:
Top of the range aluminium tandem, with front disc brake. Available for hire to experienced cyclists.

Bikes for children:
We have several good quality children’s bikes available for hire, for ages 7-11 . Childrens’ helmets are included in your hire price.

Tag-along Bike for children between 4 to 8 years.

Child seat available free of charge for children up to 25kg.

SECURE BIKE STORAGE

If you decide to bring your own bike with you to stay at Le Prince Noir, we can offer you secure storage for your bike in our large Bike Barn. This is also our bike workshop, where there is a range of tools and equipment which you can borrow if you need to work on your bike. It is also a centre for our guests to gather to share experiences and have many bike-centred conversations. 

BERGERAC AIRPORT/ RAILWAY STATION TRANSFERS

We can provide pick up and drop off at Bergerac Airport with your bikes. Or we can pick you up at Bergerac Railway station. Your accommodation with French Oasis Holidays is only 20 minutes drive from Bergerac.  Reserve transfers when you book your holiday.

ARE YOU A RACING OR TOURING CYCLIST?

For the enthusiastic regular cyclist, or for racing cyclists developing their training programme, when staying at Le Prince Noir we can provide a base for your cycle tour, or the ideal place to make significant progress with your training. You can be entirely independent, or there is help and advice available if you wish.

The quiet country lanes through the undulating Bergerac vineyards offer a huge range of routes which can be as steady or as challenging as you like. Gordon has a lifetime of cycling experience and will be pleased to recommend routes over a variety of terrain and distance to suit your needs. You can “get the miles in your legs”, and those with families can enjoy their cycling  knowing that their family will be content relaxing around the pool or taking advantage of the many leisure activities nearby.

Group Cycling Holidays

We are happy to cater for cycling groups, so why not get some of your cycling club together to enjoy the benefits of cycling in France ?

In the months April to June and September  we are happy to arrange special deals for groups, which will include afternoon tea with Jane’s delicious homemade cakes each day after your ride, and transfers to and from Bergerac airport for you and your bikes. Talk to us about it!

SELF-GUIDED CYCLE TOURS IN DORDOGNE

THE CHATEAUX & VINEYARDS ROAD CYCLE TOUR.

From May to September you can do the chateaux and vineyards tour independently on a self-guided basis. We provide you with a detailed route, with a choice of two different routes.
Tour A: 25 miles a day.
Tour B: 40-45 miles a day

Your Self-guided Tour starts and ends on a Saturday at Le Prince Noir, where you can relax by the pool, do more bike riding,or vist the local vineyards and chateaux which are close by . You begin a 4-day cycle tour from Le Prince Noir on quiet, country roads ( average 25 miles per day) to discover the beauty and history of the Dordogne valley, visiting quaint French villages and magnificent chateaux. Your luggage is transferred each day to your overnight accommodation in comfortable auberges, specialising in traditional French cuisine. Or, if you wish ,you can be fully independent and cycle with panniers, but we can still book your accommodation for you.

The cycle tour ( 4 days/ 3 nights) and one week's gîte rental is all included in your holiday price. A second week's self-catering gîte holiday at Le Prince Noir, either side of your Self-guided Tour can be booked at a discount price.
